The Final Countdown

The book blog was delighted - and frankly relieved - to see Professor Minerva McGonagall topping the vote for Hogwarts' best member of staff (we've always had our doubts about Dumbledore's professional ethics).

The vote was tight, with Hagrid in second place, at only one percentage point behind, thus proving that a school's support staff are every bit as vital to its success as the teachers. Snape and Dumbledore tied in third place . Sorry, Lupin fans, for leaving him off the list!

But what is that mysterious ticking noise? It must be the countdown to our final poll, as today we invite you to choose your favourite Hogwarts student.

Who's top of the form for you? Did we miss anyone out? (undoubtedly, if the previous polls are anything to go by).  Do the Weasley twins really merit individual entries??? You decide.

If five successive polls haven't dented your appetite for all things Potterian, you might like to test yourself on the Guardian's 20 years, 20 questions Harry Potter quiz (the book blog fesses up to scoring a feeble five out of twenty: we're sure you can do better), and Sam Leith's piece in the same paper on things we have learned from 20 years of Harry Potter is also an entertaining read.

We hoped you've enjoyed this week of Potter-themed posts and polling. The book blog owes a massive debt of gratitude to Dr Hudson, the blog's own Potterpedia, who dug deep into his sorting hat and helped us select the categories and the candidates: hugely appreciated, and many thanks!
